El sombrero regresa al armario de las panameñas

Diseñadoras panameñas y artesanas han tomado el sombrero Panamá como lienzo para desplegar los vibrantes colores del trópico. La tendencia comenzó hace unos dos años, cuando diseñadoras recién iniciadas en a la industria de la moda local comenzaron a decorar el clásico sombrero blanco, con flores de telas, molas, lentejuelas, y a reemplazar su tradicional cinta negra por otras más coloridas. La infanta Elena de España, durante su visita a Panamá, recibió de regalo un sombrero adornado con molas diseñadas por la modista franco-panameña Helene Breebaart.

La tendencia también ha tomado otros estilos de sombreros, como borsalinos y sombreros de paja de ala ancha, añadiendo glamour y un toque de feminidad a sombreros de líneas masculinas. Hoy marcas de diseñadores como Curu by Yami Campos y Susie Dávila se dedican sobre todo a la decoración de sombreros; y artesanas como Albertina Alba, los venden en las calles de ciudades del interior, como Chitré, en Herrera.

Esta corriente ha puesto el sombrero de vuelta sobre las cabezas de las panameñas, quienes hasta hace un par de años hubiesen mirado de manera extraña a una mujer ensombrerada, pese a que este accesorio es perfecto para el clima tropical.
